The Intro to Race Program has 15 new participants so far, with 5 spots still available. All Spin Sisters are invited to participate -- you don't need to have any race background or be an advanced rider, just the desire to learn more about racing and participate in a mountain bike race! For more information and to register, go here: www.zone4.ca/register.asp?id=1090Also, I will be out at Bow Cycle this Wednesday (April 28th) from 6-8pm to answer any questions and talk more about the program!
If you are planning to sign up, you must also purchase a jersey. We are almost sold out, so please buy your ASAP! Thanks, Jodi (Race Co-ordinator and Instructor)

Is there a calendar of the course schedule anywhere on line here? I can't seem to find the dates when we're meeting.
Thanks Jodi,
Kathleen

Hi Racers,
Listed below are the dates for the race program (they are also listed on Zone4). I will be updating the calendar on the forum soon as well, so they will also appear there. Watch for an email later this week that will give you more info on the first session coming up on May 20th!
There is still room for a couple more Spin Sisters to get involved in the race program. Registration will be closing on Saturday, May 15th.
Cheers, Jodi
Dates and Locations: Thursday, May 20th, 6:30-8:30pm - Indoor Session - location: Mountain Equipment Co-op (to be confirmed)
Wednesday, May 26th, 6:00-8:30pm - Outdoor Session - location: TBD (Nosehill or COP)
Wednesday, June 2nd, 6:00-9:00pm - Outdoor Session - location: Station Flats
Wednesday, June 9th, 6:00-9:00pm - Pre-ride the Course - location: Canmore Nordic Centre
Saturday, June 12th, time TBD - Iron Lung Race - location: Canmore Nordic Centre (race start time is usually 9am; recommend early arrival for check in and warm up)
The indoor session will include topics such as: what to expect at a race, what to bring, goal setting, warm ups, nutrition, race etiquette and pre-riding. At the outdoor sessions, we will practice race skills, including a mass start, passing and being passed, good places to eat/drink on the course, getting on and off the bike quickly, and other race techniques. We will even have a short mock race to practice these skills! The pre-ride session will give you an opportunity to analyze and practice the race course at the Nordic Centre. After the race, we will meet as a team to celebrate and discuss how it went!
NOTE: If you can't make the Iron Lung race on June 12th, or if you want to do additional races, see below for additional race options we are highlighting in our Introduction to Racing Program. We will have coaching support at these events as well and expect that there will be members of current Spin Sisters Race Team racing again this year.
Sunday, May 30th - Giver8'er Enduro race at COP – This is an 8-hour lap race with one rider from each team on the course at a time. The goal this year is to enter Spin Sister teams of 2 or 4 riders! If you choose to do this as an additional race, Deadgoat Racing is also offering Spin Sisters in the Race Program a $10 rebate on the entry fee (to be reimbursed after the race).
Sunday, June 20th - Suffer Spring race at Station Flats (the course is the Sulfur Springs trail)
