As it turned out, we had 8 riders: gwynn, alison, kim, catherine, doreen, heather, christa, kayla (if I got anyone's name wrong, please correct me)
Kim was bravissima as our ride leader-elect. She found super heart-thumping climbs; she found us some tricky rooty descents, all, as far as we knew, part of the network of approved trails at the west end of the park. We forded streams, swooped down curvy rhythm sections, pedaled silently on cushiony leaf-padded trails through the hushed springtime forest, and pushed our technical limits in a few places. She said it all comes from having ridden quite a bit in the park. At one point I recognized we had come to one of the places I remember doing trail maintenance on last year; our section is still in good shape.
Good job ladies, who knew such great riding is available right here in the city? (Well actually the Spin Sisters already do know!) Best of all, nobody got hurt, though I won't say nobody came off their bike abruptly. There were some tricky parts for sure.
I look forward to more Tuesday Cruiser rides, and the main Wednesday ride next week will be at Fish Creek. (This week's main club ride is at Bowmont Park NW) See you there!
