We also need leads for Telephone Loop on Aug 11. I will be away this week, so please post in this thread if you are interested in leading this ride. Thank you Keely

I haven't ridden this yet this year, but I'm happy to lead the ride! See you then.

Everyone please check the forum on Wednesday - sounds like Telephone may be a boggy mess so I may re-schedule the ride... let me know if you have any trail wishes...

Not sure how dry any of the other trails are, but am happy to lead. Haven't ridden Race of Spades yet this year either, so if there is any interest, I'd love to ride it.

I just called the Elbow Valley Info Centre - they said the trail should be alright to ride. There are lots of Bear Closures elsewhere so I think this is a good option for us tomorrow night. Please note - this ride is alway muddy so bring plastic bags for your shoes and a change of clothes for after the ride! The ride takes 2 hours so you must be riding by 7 or earlier - its starting to get dark by 9ish so I want everyone back to the lot by then!! (Wow I sound like my mom today...) Directions: Take Hiway 22 (or hiway 8 from Calgary west) to Bragg Creek. Go straight through the 4 was stop and cross the only bridge, and turn left at the T intersection. Follow that all the way out (9km) to the Provincial Recreation area (road turns into gravel at rec area gates). Follow the gravel to the parking lot at the end. Trail starts from the middle of the north side of parking lot (to go counter-clockwise). Here are a couple of great maps that will be useful: www.braggcreek.ca/kananaskis/westbraggmap.htm tpr.alberta.ca/parks/kananaskis/pdfs/2007_maps/Bragg_Creek_XC_Trails_Map.pdf And a Google Map to West Bragg Creek Provincial Park: maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=west+bragg+creek+provincial+park&sll=50.940961,-114.575901&sspn=0.032558,0.059824&ie=UTF8&hq=Bragg+Creek+Provincial+Park&hnear=Bragg+Creek+Provincial+Park&ll=50.942313,-114.587231&spn=0.031205,0.059824&t=h&z=14&iwloc=A

I'll be out there ready to ride by 6:45. Look for me in the Spin Sisters shirt with the Golden Retreiver, we will be covered in bug spray!
See you tomorrow night.

I'm totally in. I did this a the beginning of the season for the first time ever and it was wet and snowy. I think I got a little off track too so I'm keen to see how it's really supposed to go.
I'll try to make the trail head for 6:45.

Wow, what a great turn-out last night. We had 24 riders ready at 6:45 with 3 groups heading out on the trail.
The trail was wet, slick and very muddy. Everyone was quite dirty by the time all was said and done. Watch for fallen trees on the trail if you are riding it, as there seemed to be about a half dozen. Only a few of which you could ride over, the others required more muscle. There were also a few dangling trees which unseated Gloria on one descent.
The last 4 km of the ride had numerous muddy holes to negotiate, and one rider (who shall remain nameless) had a nice little swim in one. The log bridges in these were very slippery.
Until Next Time!
