Looks like we finally catch a break in the weather for our last scheduled ride of the season!
Meeting spot is at the parking lot at the intersection of Edgemont Drive and Shaganappi Trail. I've moved the start time up to 6 pm as it's definitely pretty dark by 7:30. That said, Nose Hill is great for night riding. Maybe those with some lights want to give it a try?
Please email rides@spinsisters.ca with ride numbers.
Have fun ladies!

Me too! I do have lights and can stay longer as required. Might be fun to do the wiggly singletrack through the trees west of the gravel quarry, just after dusk when the mists rise and the bats begin to fly... Actually there won't be bats (no bugs this time of year) But cool and spooky just the same!

What an excellent ride to close off the 2010 calendar! Warm enough to be comfortable in just one or two layers, cool enough to stay cool riding, and wonder of wonders: no rain!
We had a good fast ride on the singletrack along the west face of the hill, dipping into the valley emptying out by the Shaganappi catchment pond. over to Brisebois parking lot and back up the hill to the gravel pit, where Bek and Cheryl caught up with us, making us 9 in number, 10 if we include Christie's well-behaved hound Joey who ran rings around us but was pretty good at returning on command. The grass is long and overhangs the narrow trail, not much sign of the flowers that were abundant just two weeks ago (frost will do that!) The trees overlooking the city and the gravel pit were all colours of brilliant yellow and orange. Proceeding through the golden evening light to the east bluff, we played a little on the drops and runouts.
Congratulations to Midori for taking the challenge on the bigger drop, twice (I think she may still be smiling!) Then back through the trees retracing our tracks across the west face, beneath a chinook arch, orange light spectacularly suffusing shimmering soaring Stratus and Spin-Sisters-S shaped swooshes of stratospheric Cirrus at sunset! Seriously : - )
There's still lots of time to ride this season, but that was the last of the official Wednesday club rides. So: so long, Sisters, see you out there! Ride safely!

It was a great ride and I'm so happy I made to the scary drop thanks to the good coaching and encouragement from the group (Yes, I'm still smiling). Thanks to everyone riding with me and giving me big support.
I can't wait to for next season or I hope to see you on trails before winter.
